Bansko Jazz Festival

The International Jazz Festival, inaugerated in 1998, takes place in Bansko every August. For this week, Bansko lives to the rhythm of jazz. Local people and guests of the town enjoy the musical talent of some 200 musicians from dozens of different countries that for these 5 days turn Bansko into the musical capital of Europe.

1) The town of Melnik is the smallest town in Bukgaria with just 230 permanent residents.

2) The Rila Monastery is situated about 80kms away from Bansko, and is the most popular tourist site amoung all monasteries in Bulgaria.

3) Trigrad is a 45 min drive from Bansko, close to the Greek border.

4) The village of Kovachevitza is about 1050m above sea level and within 1hrs drive of Bansko. Nearby winds the Kanina River, renown for its three deep ponds.
